Hello! Thank you for visiting fifth grade 105! Here is a little information about myself.
I absolutely love my job. I come from a family of teachers, and I feel so fortunate each and every day that I am able to call teaching my profession. This year will be my sixth year teaching upper elementary school students (fifth and sixth graders). I began my career in Stillwater, Minnesota teaching fifth grade students, and I enjoyed teaching that age very much. My dream was always to teach and live in Minneapolis, and I am so grateful to say that dream is now a reality.
I have a wonderful family. My husband Garrett and I have one son who is one and half years old. His name is Rhys. We live in the Seward neighborhood of Minneapolis on a pedestrian-only street called Milwaukee Avenue. Thankfully, it is very close to the Greenway, a bike-trail system in Minneapolis, so I try to bike to school as much as I can. If you see my bright orange bike, you will know it was a biking day for me.
One of my favorite parts of teaching is getting to know students and families. Each year, I have the unique opportunity to get to know so many wonderful individuals. Last year at Lake Harriet, students participated in many project-based projects which allowed for choice and student personalities to shine through. I am excited for the tradition of project-based learning to continue this year.
I am very excited to get to know all of you this school year.
