Learning Targets: I can continue to learn about how slavery began in the Americas from the perspective of the Western Africans.

I can continue to work on my flash draft.

Today, students continued their study of how slavery began in the Americas from the perspective of the Western Africans. Students learned about the Middle Passage, and what slavery was like once the Africans arrived in America. Students learned about how slaves were sold, and oftentimes separated from their families. Students learned about the intense dilemmas that the African slaves were faced with, and thought about what they might do if they were in that situation.

Students also had time to type their flash draft in the computer lab. By Monday, all students need to have their flash draft typed into their google doc and shared with me. Parents are encouraged to proofread the flash-draft and offer grammatical suggestions. Students were also encouraged to include transitional words to enhance their writing.
