I understand what a strike is.

I can identify how human rights are violated in Esperanza Rising.

Today, students began class with an activity that challenged students to match the evidence from Esperanza Rising to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Article that it violated. Students did a great job finding evidence to support the articles.

This activity lead directly into the text-based questions for the ‘Avocados’ chapter. Students worked in class on this assignment.

For homework, students needed to read ‘Asparagus’ and answer the question: Do you think that the workers should have gone on strike? Why or why not.
