Today we had a guest speaker visit our fifth grade classroom. Mrs. Blatchley, the president of the Nagasaki-St. Paul Sister City Committee talked to our classroom about peace, and what peace looks like to all of us.
Mrs. Blatchley talked to us about peace symbols in our own city, specifically the Lyndale Park Peace Garden. She also talked to us about the importance of peace, and identified universal symbols for peace.
Students reflected on what peace looked like for them, and began to illustrate that in their Language Arts notebook.
Thank you very much for your time, Mrs. Blatchley!
